It was a typical busy day filled with meetings, client calls, and team huddles until I stumbled upon an article, and in that moment, time seemed to stand still. The Weekend Leader had published my story, and they called it “A meteoric rise,” and I was instantly transported back to my childhood days in Trichy. I was a kid who had lost my father and was being raised by a strong single mom. This article mentioned my journey of how I used to sell sweets to support my family as a little boy.
I am Sidd Ahmed, a global CEO today, but this article brought attention to my early days and beginnings. I didn’t have the luxury of a safety net, but all I had was the will to learn and grow.
In very early stages of my life, I had realised that giving up was not an option and Grit and Resilience were what kept me going, achieving one goal after another even after facing failures.
While working in multiple jobs, I had established myself very well in the recruitment industry, and my sales background from my previous jobs as a salesman in Trichy and then in Chennai made me the Vice President/Sales at Systel Inc., leading staffing and scaling efforts. Although I had achieved success, I still felt that something was missing in my life. I was driven by a burning desire to create something of my own. So I resigned from Systel, moved to Atlanta (Alpharetta), and founded VDart Inc. with $500, sold my car and house to fund the business.
My decision to begin my own venture was driven by courage and my will to move out of my comfort zone,my love for spotting and nurturing new talent and my purpose of creating an impact which will allow me to give back to the Trichy youth. This proved to be the best decision of my life and with just 500$ , one contact ,a study table and a laptop I built an empire called the VDart group which spans over 14 countries and has now a team of 4000 plus people.
This story is a reminder to all of us that grit, persistence, and resilience have the power to transform our lives and lead to incredible achievements.
